Knowledge session: How do we keep public transport resilient and agile?
Speaker: Martijn van Aartrijk, Head of Public Mobility Innovation
Time: 12:05 – 12:35
Public transport plays an essential role in society, but the conditions under which it must fulfil that role are changing rapidly. Financial pressure, ageing infrastructure, and cyber threats call for tough decisions. At the same time, the expectations of clients and passengers remain high, competition from shared trasport and autonomous vehicles is growing, and AI is creating both new opportunities and new challenges.
The future of our public transport
In our interactive session, we deliberately look beyond individual solutions. How do we ensure that public transport remains reliable and continues to fulfil its societal and operational responsibilities? Where do we start? What can we learn from other countries? And perhaps most importantly: what do all these developments mean for the model on which our public transport system currently operates?
Together with participants, we will explore how public transport can become more resilient and agile. In doing so, we will look not only at the threats, but also at the opportunities these changes create, and at what they require in terms of collaboration between transport operators, market parties, and authorities.
Who is it for?
This session is intended for senior management and C-level executives at transport operators, directors, and professionals specialising in policy and concessions at public transport authorities, and representatives of passenger organisations.
It is for anyone who wants to look beyond individual solutions and explore, together with others, what is needed to keep Dutch public transport future-proof.
Key takeaways
We will separate fact from fiction and strip the developments facing public transport down to their true significance. In doing so, we aim to remove fear and uncertainty from the discussion and make way for a constructive conversation about what is possible.
You’ll leave the session with new perspectives and practical tools for next steps, so that you can kick-start both the conversation and the change within your own organisation.
