On 7 October, ICT InTraffic attended the Public Transport Congress 2026. Together with professionals from the public transport sector, we discussed the future of public transport and how we can keep it reliable, resilient, and future-proof in a constantly changing world.

How do we keep public transport flexible and agile?

During the knowledge session presented by Erik van der Kuil, Business Consultant at ICT InTraffic, one central question took centre stage: how do we keep public transport flexible and agile?

The sector faces major challenges. Financial pressure, ageing infrastructure, and cyber threats call for tough decisions and thorough preparation for change. At the same time, developments such as AI, autonomous vehicles and shared mobility are also creating new opportunities to make public transport smarter, more efficient and more attractive.

During the well-attended session, there was ample opportunity for interaction. Participants shared experiences, offered different perspectives and engaged in discussion about the developments likely to have the greatest impact on public transport in the coming years.

It became clear that future-proof public transport requires more than just technological innovation. Indeed, collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and the ability to respond quickly to changes are key to keeping the sector resilient and agile.

Building tomorrow’s public transport together

We look back on an inspiring session characterised by a high level of engagement and valuable discussions. Thank you to all participants for their active contributions and interesting insights. Together, we will continue to work on the mobility of tomorrow.
